Question 1) How do I change my standard ring in my call route?
Answer) The tone that the caller will hear in every call route is set to Standard Ring by default, but you can easily change this to anything that suits you.
You have the option to select from our Standard UK or US rings, otherwise you will need to upload an audio file to the audio tab in dashboard. Once uploaded, you will be able to select this audio from the dropdown box, under Calling Tone in the Call Route.

Question 3) What codecs (audio compressors) do you support?
Answer) Codecs (audio compressors) are used on VoIP hardware phones and softphones to squeeze more audio into your data connection. Support for codecs varies between hardware and softphone manufacturers so you can't always be certain what phone will have what support.
However, codecs automatically "negotiate" when you make a phone call and in most phones, you can define your codec priorities. So in a VoIP to VoIP call if the other party is using say GSM and you're using G.711, you will negotiate between you by working down the priorities to the best codec available for you both to have the best quality call you can. We currently support the following codecs as standard. In most devices you set an order of priority for codecs and we recommend the order below.
Opus
G.722
G.711 a-law. This is also known as G711a or PCMA (European PSTN standard)
G.711 u-law. This is also known as G711u, or PCMU (American PSTN standard)

Question 5) Can I set my own hold music, and where can I do this?
Answer) If you'd like to play your own music, please refer to the guide on adding audio.
You'll have to use either the default Hold Music Playlist given to you, or customise your own. For either of these options, you can find their configuration pages in:
My Dashboard > Voice > Audio > Playlists.
Here you'll be able to add, edit and customise your playlists.
Setting Hold Music:
You can set hold music for both Inbound and Outbound calls:
Go to My Dashboard > Voice > Users > Users, and edit the desired user.
You'll see an option called "Hold Music Playlist". You'll be able to select one of your predetermined playlists here. From now on, the default hold music for this user will be this.
To find this, navigate to My Dashboard > Voice > Inbound Settings > Routing and edit the call route of your choice.
You'll see an option called "Hold Music" at the top - use this to set the hold music to your preferred option.

Question 6) Can I use popular songs for my hold music?
Answer) With Expediusly, you're able to upload any audio file to your business telephony system, but does that mean you can use any music that is available for your hold music?
Unfortunately not.
If you wanted to use more well-known songs as your company hold music, you'll want to make sure you either have an agreement with the copyright holder or you have gained a license from a music licensing company, such as PPL (Phonographic Performance Limited). This company requires a fee from you so that any royalties can be repaid to the original creator of the music.
Once you have this licence and are approved to use the music, you can upload the relevant audio file in your Expediusly dashboard under Voice > Audio, and start using it as hold music for your customers!
